Where do I dispose of aluminum beverage cans?
Starting January 1, 2025, a deposit system applies in Austria for single-use beverage cans. Empty, undamaged cans with a deposit logo are returned through collection points or return machines in retail stores. Cans without a deposit logo continue to be disposed of in designated collection containers. In Vorarlberg, these containers are located at local waste disposal sites or directly at municipal depots. Proper disposal ensures that beverage cans can be fully recycled without any loss of quality.
Does the beverage come into contact with aluminum?
The contents of the beverage can do not come into contact with the aluminum, as the can is coated with a food-safe inner lacquer during the manufacturing process, which serves as a protective layer.
